The UK already has steampunk communities. It does not need one organisation trying to own them.
What it does need is a better way to connect them.
The problem
Events, clubs, makers, performers and traders are scattered across websites, social media pages and private groups. That works when you already know the scene, but it can be difficult for newcomers to discover what exists.
The idea behind Steampunk UK
Steampunk UK is being developed as a shared national discovery point: somewhere to find events, makers, groups, performers, stories and resources while still sending people back to the communities that created them.
Local first
The strongest steampunk communities are often local. A national site should make those communities more visible, not replace them.
Help build it
If you run a group, organise events, make things, perform, photograph, write or contribute to the scene in another way, we want Steampunk UK to reflect that.
