British steampunk has never been only about what people wear. Music and performance are a huge part of the culture surrounding festivals and gatherings.
What does steampunk sound like?
There is no single steampunk genre. Depending on the event you might hear chap-hop, electro swing, folk, cabaret, rock, industrial music, comedy songs, acoustic acts, DJs or theatrical performance.
Performance fits the world-building
The strongest acts often do more than play songs. Character, costume, humour, storytelling and audience interaction can turn a performance into part of the imagined world around the event.
Supporting UK performers
Steampunk UK will feature performers and help event organisers and audiences discover artists working within or alongside the scene.
If you perform at steampunk events in Britain, we want to know who you are, where you play and what makes your act different.
